AUCKLAND, August 15. At the Police Court Alfred James Lindsay was charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of John Lewis Sheard, who sustained fatal injuries as a result tof a fall in Wellington Street on Monday night. Lindsay stated at the inquest that he took his child from the deceased, but denied having used unnecessary force. Referring to tho request for bail, the police-inspector stated that he had fresh evidence to produce, and asked for a remand until Friday, which was granted. Bail was allowed in two sureties of £50 each.
