Florence Nightingale suffered a long illness. She rallied on Friday, but her condition became serious on Saturday, and she gradually sank. At her strong ly expressed wish'her funeral is to be of the quietest possible character.
(Tho deceased lady, who was one ot tho best known personages of last ceuturv, was the heroine of the Crimean war. She was born on May 12th. 1820. She was educated in nursing by Protestant Sisters of Mercy at Kaiserwarfch on the Rhino, and many other places. When the British soldiers were needlessly dying in the Crimean hospitals, Florence Nightingale organised a. nursing band, and her deeds are,,well known to everybody. She received a testimonial of '£50,000, which .she devoted to the foundation of the Nightingale Hospital for the training of nurses.)
