FIRE ON THE ATUA.
LITTLE DAMAGE DONE
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 13. During the voyage of the Atua, from Samoa to Nukualofa, a fire was discc.vered in the forehold at 1.57 p.m. on Saturday, when the vessel was thirty .miles from Nukulofa. Tt was found that the copra was afire, md the pungent smoke rendered any attempt to put the firs out impossible. Thp hold was then battened down, and on arrival at Nukulofa a chemical fire extinguisher was put into operation all Saturday and Sunday. The hatches- were then taken ott ami water pu.trped in. and the fire was out by four in the afternoon. . ' When the vessel was pumped dry it was found that practically no damage was done to the ship and very little to the cargo. ___
