TALLY HO!
BY MYLES B. HYNDE. j Everyone was looking forward to.tho i Bushy Park Hunt, which eventuated last Saturday, and promising themselves a pleasant outing, but the Clerk of tho Weather was "agm" us, and the morning broke miserably cold and wet. But we trooped out to the meet by ear saddle, and wheels, determined to iiave a good day's fun, weather or no weather, with the full knowledge that even if the elements were inhospitable, a warm and hearty welcome awaited us when wo" reached our rendezvous. Nor were we doomed to disappointment, ror MUs Connolly had a most appetising luncheon ready, and Host Moore met us with a cheery handshake and genial invitation to come right in. Luncheon disposed of, Huntsman Gordon soon Ma things in motion, and a first-class course of about three miles was laid around the station. From a vantage point in front of the Station House, we got a first-class view of the run, which resulted in a most exciting finish -and the third and fourth runners fightin o- out a desperate finish, and coming a, cropper at the last fenre, much to the amusement of the onlookers. Presumably neither rider or horse suffered any' serious consequences. Whilst the hounds were having a breather, one ot the station hands gave an exhibition ot jumping without saddle or bridle on a 'good-looking gelding by Euroclydon— Puss, a half brother to Catapult, I Sammy, etc. The second run was about two miles, and also proved most interesting. Afternoon tea and home was the word, IMr Paterson taking the opportunity ot thanking Mr Moore for his generous hospitality, and also Miss Connolly and Mi^s Cutfield for the most excellent -spread provided. 3S&- Moore, m responding, said that he thought the boot was on the othe rfoot, and'that all deserved a. Victoria Cross for venturing out such a distance- on such a wretched day. Three hearty cheers for Mr Moore and Mis? Connolly, and we bade goodbye to Bushy Park until next season Members and all those who intend nominating for tho Hunt Races are reminded that nominations close with the secretary for all events on Saturday, the 6th* August. .
