A SHOCKING TRAGEDY

Tho Hon. C. S. Rolls, in a biplane, was en-gaged to-day mi an alighting competition.. Mating a sudden descent, he ca.jsed an over-pressure on the back tails, with -the result that tha pivots broke, and the machine becamo powerless. Tiie biplane fell 100 test at a terrific rate, and was dashed into mass of matchwood and broken steel. The Hon. C. S. Rolls was extricated from the debris with a broken neck and the base of his '■-kail fractured. 'Thousands witnessed the accident. All flying was abandoned for the day in consequence of the sad occurrence.
