MEETING OF THE MAORI MISSION COMMITTEE.
The new Convenor, Rev. Geo. Budd, of Feilding, presided at the meeting of the above committee. There were present also Hevs McCully, Evans, Ross, Aitken, Monfries, White. Gordon, Mor-
! tin, and Messrs McFarland and McEldowney, elders. Messrs. Budd .and Wlirts were appointed a commission to | visit Taupo and district in" February j and report, and the matter of the fu- , turo sphere for Sister Alison to be j inquired into by them. Mr. Monfries j gave in a full report of Manunui acJ counts, in connection with the Maori j Boys' School were passed for payment. The following resolution was unanimously carried :—" The committee re- | spcctfully emphasises the necessity for ■ enforcing and observing the Kainga j restrictions in respect of the sales of spirituous liquors in the King Coun- ! try. We further respectfully protest ! against the granting of wholesale licenses, and of the carrying by rail of consignments of liquor into King Country area, thus breaking faith with the Maoris and' defeating tha end of : law and justice."
