THE FUNERAL. (Per Press Association.) :'', mi V;;>;; NAPIER, June 10. . 1 he; funeral , of the late Mrs G. P. Donnelly took place -at' Omahu to-day and was very largely attended. Local tribes, were in strong force, and representative Maoris from Rbtorua, Gisborne Wairoa, Taupo, King Country, and the West Coast of the North Island also took part in the ceremonies. During the forenoon the usual Maori observances took place and, speeches of condolence were made by Messrs -Douglas McLean, C. P. Skerrett, James Coates, A. L. D. Fras&r, and others, the Maori chiefs in reply ex'pressino' appreciation of the sympathy shown by the European visitors. The Church o*f England funeral service was conducted by the Bishop of Waianu, assisted by ten European and ' Maori clergymen; The whole proceedings were most solemn and impressive, and • there were many tributes to the memory, of the deceased, lady. Among the numerous wreaths were one from Sir Joseph and Lady Ward and another from the Prime Minister and his colleagues. .
