AMUSEMENTS.

WEST'S PICTURES

West's Pictures , ; and Orchestra concluded their present season here on Saturday evening, when there was another crowded house. The'pictures-were all practically flickerless, and there were very few repetitions. There was p, variety to suit all tastes, and the subjects which appeared to cause most interest were the following;: "The disappearing Pickpocket," an individual who could not fall into the hands of the police; a. coloured picture entitled "The Puppets" etc. A picture entitled "Fountains of Rome" was very beautiful indeed. The?'e appeared, however, to bs a great waste of water. Two others, "Driven* b^ hunger" and "Nan's sacrifice' 1 shed some light on the unemployed problem in England, and their attempts to obtain food. Dickon's unfinished novel, "Edwin Drood" was very dramatically pourtrayed, and it/was particularly clear. The orchestra played each of the overtures, and the incidental music, all making up a particularly interesting programme. 'A matinee was given in the afternoon, when there was a crowded house.
