"FOUND DROWNED."
MAN'S BODY DISCOVERED IN
MANAWATU RIVER
Police Inspector Wilson yesterday received a telegram from Sub-Inspector Donovan, of Palmerston North, stating that tho corpse of a man had been found on some snags in the middle of the Manawatu River about a quarter of a mile below the Fitzherbert Street Bridge. The body was found on Saturday afternoon. Two references were found in the clothing—one from Mr Dixon, manager of Hashes Hotel, Feilding (given last year) and the other from Mr Hodgins, an hotelkeeper in, the Lower Hutt (given in 1904). These bore the na-me "William V. Haveland." The body was much decomposed; Tho deceased was a man of about 35 years of age, sft. 7in. in height, stout,'with dark brown hair, and apparently clean shaven. He was dressed in a light grey sac coat, darker trousers, white shirt, and -water-tip^it boots toe capped. The police will be glad to receive any information tending to identification.
