((Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, November 26. llio Otago A. and- P. Society's 32ndf summer show opened to-day in splendid.l weather. The entries totalled 799 as* ; against 734 last year, and were made upas follows: Sheep 254, cattle 131. horses 357, pigs 47. The quality of the*' cattle and sheep was the best yet seen> at any Otago show, and the competition was very keen in cattle. The exhibits from Canterbury were much superior to those from Otago and the • former gained over 80 per cent, of thehonours in sheep. Romneys stood out:. Dy themselves, the judges' opinion being that they are equal to any yefc: shown in the Dominion. Otbell scored mostpoints in Border Leicesters, but J. Geimiisll won the championship for™ rams, and J. Ross the championship* for owes. The competition in EnglishLeicester was confined to E. Holland*"" and A. Murdock, and Kelland won allf a^ong the line. In Lincolns, all ex—" hibits except two were shown by theN.Z. and A. Land Company, but Setbr Smith secured the championship inranis. In Shropshire Downs, SetliSmith was also successful. Tn Shorthorns, Arthur Chamberlain" (Ellesmere) won Ihe class for all-aKedT:" bulls, two-year-old bulls, yearling bulls,, all-aged cows, 3-year-old heifers, cow with two of progeny, and championship-* bull. John Deans' estate won in two— year-old heifers, yearling heifers, threecows, and championship cow. InAyrshires, A. McKerrjow's bull ■won-, the championship. The principal winner in the other classes was A. Gillies, whoso Reta 111. was deemed the bestr cow.
