The monthly meeting was held at Marton on Saturday. Present: Crs. R. K. Simpson (chairman), A. McGregor, C. J. Canton, A. G. Simpson, M. Morrison, D. Fraser, and B. P. Lethbrid^e. CORRESPONDENCE. From Valuer-General, explaining errors in totals of Erewhon Riding roll, and regretting same. From Telegraph Department, accounts for £15 0s 6d and £46 2s 6d deficiency on the year's working of the Pukeokahu and Huntei'ville-Koeke telephones respectively. From Marten Borough Council, forwarding plan of proposed alterations of Borough boundaries. Resolved that this Council has no objections to the portion of the county being included in the borough provided those who are interested are agreeable. From It. Lilburn, offering to sell one acre opposite Pukeroa School for a roadman's house for £10.—Council does not require site now.

From D ; Scott," asking- permission to lay a water pipe across the Papakai Road.—Agreed to subject to approval of Mr Mair.

From W. Jurgens, objecting to tram line laid on Pukenaua lioad. —Referred to Cr. Canton and Engineer to report upon.

From J. A. Olliver, asking to have culvert lowered on Murray's track.—iMr Mair to deal with if necessary. From W. M. Ross, account for £26 13s lOd in connection with his contract ior erection of Kakauraponga Bridge at Turakina.—Account not entertained.

From F. D. Allen, complaining of his cattle being impounded.—Received. From- E. aVlcCrowen, asking attention to the Taihapa Valley R-oad, and that 12 chains further bo formed.—Resolved that the maintained of the road is be-. ing attended to, and that the 12 chains will bo formed when sufficient thirds are available. ■ . . ;

Engineer Mair reported that he had almost completed plans and specifications for the traffic bridge.over Kawhatau River at Potaka crossing, and suggested that steps 'be taken,"- with the requisite notice to the Government and Kiwi tea County, to raise the money and puv the .work in hand as soon as possible yto ensure completion before next winter. With the. assistance of the County Clerk he had made proposals for the expenditure of nearly . all the accrued thirds ,now.--standing to the county's credit. Carson (Marton Junction township), waited on the I Council to ask assistance in connexion with the new road proposed by the Railway Department, giving access to Kitchener Street.~lt. was pointed out that the extensive alterations how going on at the railway station yards necessitated the closing of Kitchener- Street gate. .- The new l-oad suggested was a better one, as it would do away with crossing the railway lines (except one), but the Department refused to bear the cost, although prepared to offer the land free of cost. TheTe was a portion at the corner in Marton Junction township that had to be acquired for the new road. The Department had promised to keep Kitchener Street gate open until other reasonable access was given.-HDr. Canton thought that a deputation should proceed to Wellington, as he considered the people interested had * •stronS case against the Department.— DrSkei-man was of opinion there was a direct breach of agreement by the Department to settlers on the other side of the line.—The Chairman thought that tho sum asked for to make this now road was too big for the Council to en tertain, and the question would requi'-o" turtner consideration.
