(United Press Association—Copyright.) ADELAIDE, September 1. An offer, on behalf of a syndicate of English and German capitalists, has been made to the State Government to take over the Northern Territory on the same terms as it was offered to the Commonwealth.
PORT DARWIN, Sept. 1 Eastern files show that, in the \uie typhoon at Hong Kong, 800 business boats and junks, 11 guardships,_4 revenuo cutters, and 20 steam launches were destroyed, along with the river steamer Zing King. The latter carried 430 passengers, including 2 Europeans. Only 12 were saved, the drowned including Captain Page, and two European passengers. The loss of life during , the typhoon was very great. 400 houses were destroyed. A thousand Chinese troops mutinied at Taiwong Kwong, killed their commander and several petty officers, and ransacked the town.
