TRENTHAM, March 10. 10-ciay was an easy shooting day for many of the competitors, as after 'completing the 1000 yds of the Canterbury Match and Snap and Cover Matches service teams events were taken in the ■atternoon. Shooting opened in dull neavy weather, whidi shortly afterwards turned to slight drizzung rain. Much interest centred in the 1000 yds as it would decide the fifty to fire in the Championship to-morrow afternoon Iho highest scores at the range were Morgan (Auckland) 45, Marenzi (EketahunaV 43, McMurray (Napier), Mu<rridge (Palmerston North), SeWant Smaill 42. The shooting by traders was closely followed. Hyde down early when there was an absence of wind, _but bad' light, put up 39, as did Randell (Linton). Collet b had to make 27 to keep his nlace. Firing in. the worst of weather, with a puffy wind and bad light, he made only 16, and Evans the second in the list, in equally bad weather, made 23. Timbrell had a peculiar shoot, as after getting misses with ■Ins first two shots he registered bull's eyes with his next seven, and1 finished with a miss with the last, .beaten by the wind. Bairstow put in 30 which dropped him one place, 'as follows :— Randell 402.
