DUNEDIN, January 6. • A conference was held te-irght between representatives of the Athenaeum Committee'and the- members or the-City Council concernig the proposed incorporation of tho Athenaeum with the Carnegie Free Public Library. . A lengthy discussion took place, the principal points dealt with being the accommodation of the present Athenaeum subscribers and the allocation of the staff. It wa-3 decided that after the Mayor had obtained all information available he should submit "fo the committee proposals as a basis for amalgamation, theso proposals before submission to be ratified by the City Council.
