WEDDING.
CHEERS-WILLIS,
A wedding which aroused considerable local interest was solemnized at St. Johns Anglican Church yesterday, when Miss Gertrude Mabel Willis youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. -"Willis, was -married to Mr. Irvine Cheers, son of Mr. A. Cheers, of Dempey, Maeley River, New South Wales. Iho Rev. H. J. Deane officiated. The bride woro a simple dress of white silk taffeta, trimmed with real Maltese lace and festooned with soft silk. She was escorted to the- church by her father. She was attended by three bridesmaids. Her sister wore a 'dress of silk muslin, trimmed with Valenciennes lace, and a pmk hat trimmed with roses and chiffon. The other bridesmaids (two nieces) wore -white silk dresses and white hats. Mr. Bert Willis acted as best man. After the wedding ceremony the guests were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Willis at their home, " Te Mawha'i," where a largo number of friends assembled in tho drawing room {which was gaily decked with pink and white flowers) to drink the healths of the bride and bridegroom and toast their happiness. Afterwards the guests viewed the presents—a beautiful oolleetionj sent by many relatives and friends.of the happy couple. Mr. and Mrs. Cheers left for Palmerston North en route for Napier and Blenheim the future home of the bride. Mrs...Cheers wore a navy, blue tailor-made costume and hat to match. With their many friends we wish the newly-married couple a long and prosperous wedded life.
