THE FISHERMEN'S ADVENTURE.
To the Editor
Sir,—We desire to correct the statement made in your newspaper concerning the two fishermen picked up by the Mascotte on Thursday. We send you tho correct" statement as follows: — We crossed the bar at 9.30 a.m. and anchored, but a strong out-running : ido and easterly wind dragged the anchor, and wo were carried seawards. Finding matters so, we pulled towards the shore, and anchored about four miles down the coast. On the turn of the tide we piviled towards the Wanganui bar, keeping close to the shore, and when just off the bar we were towed inside by the Mascotte, and were in no immediate danger at the time. We heartily thank Captain Irvine and all parties concerned for their kind help and trouble, as we may have been in a dangerous position. 'Hoping you will kindly correct the statement, —We are, etc., y A. J. BOOTH, D. JACKSON.
(Our information, obtained late at night, was obtained from an apparently reliable source. We may, however, add to the facts supplied by our correspondents that it was the Harbour Board s steamer, tho Mascotte, that was gent out to search ifor them, and that it was despatched on that mission by the Secretary of the Harbour Board, Mr. W. Rodwell.—Ed. " Chronicle.")
