BRISBANE, June 10
Tho following news has been received from the Queensland commercial agent in the East. The Japanese papers contrast the reception of Prince Fushima with the disastrous failure of Takahashi of the Bank of Japan, who was unable to raiso fresh loans in Europe, and only succeeded in obtaining a renewal of existing bonds with tihe help of France. The newspapers assert that immediately upon America's refusal to assist Takahashi, Rothschild demanded exorbitant terms. Germany refused to help, and Franco only responded in return for the promiso of a recently arranged treaty. Owing to the spread of unrest in Korea Marquis Ito urged the Mikado to accept his resignation as Premier. The Chief Commissioner at Manila has advised that tenders will open on th© Ist July for six million six hundred thousand pounds of frozen beef and two. hundred and ninety thousand pounds of frozen mutton during the year ending June, 1908.
