In the second half :,the Wanganui ! boys used their backs on every possible occasion, and some very pretty running and passing was) witnessed. The School hookers heeled out very smartly, and as Sim passed out witlh clockwork precision. Riddiford, Hitchings, and Todd had plenty of opportunities to show their abilities. Time after time they raced' round the ground, but the tackling of the visitors was invariably low and sure, and it was only by splendid individual efforts that Hitchings was en■abled to crosa their line. He also kicked a fine penalty goal, and was thus responsible for the whole of the School's score. The continued efforts of the School backs caused them +o tn*e .perceptibly towards the close of the game, and .as the (result of a fine run down the touchline, 'Cook scored a pretty, try for Christ's College, which was not converted. Among the visitors' backs1, White and Cook, who showed excellent all round form, were perhaps the best, but Chrystal and launders also played very well. All the backs, however, collared beautifully, and to this, more than to anything else, their victory is perhaps attributable. Hitchings was. the .. "Wallace" of the School team, though Riddiford and Todd also played with great dash all through. Sim. passed beautifully, and the forwards, among Avhom Sukuna- and Ormond were most conspicuous, all played well.' Ritchie did 6::>me excellent fast work, and his play was ia great improvement on that shown by him against Wellington. Anderspn, Latter, and Fougero were most conspicuous among the visitors' forwards, though all played well. Christ's College won the toss and played with tho wind. Htichinge kicked "off, and Hartgill fumbling the return the visitors got close to the School line. White and Chrystal made short runs, after which Ritchie dribbled through to the centre. The School team forwards gradually worked up the field, and the ball going out to Hitching?, lie made a pretty run round to the visitors' line, v.-here he was tackled and a force re-.s-ilted. Good runs l*y White, Chrystol, ■and Parkinson took the play to the School line, where Mason intercepted neatly and ran back to the centre. He,r© Sim passed out, and passing by the School backs was well stopped by White.- Hitcihing'i had a futile .shot iiom a penalty, and Christ's College figain worked up the field. " Ritc'lro and Tonks dri'bbl-ed away to the visitors' 25, whero Hartsiil minor marke 1 and Hitchings again failed at goal. Fumbling by tire School backs again let tho visitors into their 25. Aviiere Rich passed out, Chrystal and Cook making good runi,, and the forwards going over tho line, a. forco resulted. School vram for some time compelled to act on tho defensive. Riddiford evont-

ually in-t-ercoptod a pas* and made ,a pretty dodgy run down the centre of tho held to tho visitor' 25. where lie lust an excellent chanc© by not passing. Good work by the victors' forwards again tran d erred play to the home team's end of the ground, where Sim got the ball away nicely, and a capital passing run between Riddiford, Hitchings. Todd, and Ritchie ended in the latter falling when a score seemed im- j minent. Whito put in a fine kick, and Hr.Ttgill major again tumbling, the visitors got to the- School 25, where they attacked sti'ongly, but without a groat deal of compilation. Hitc'hings relieved with a good line kick to the 25 and good passing by the School backs enabled Todd to find touch at tho Christ's College 25. White, Chrysta!. and Cook, kicking with the wind, again invaded the School quartern. Todd intercepted, and started a rush into the visitors' end. Sim was feeding hie backs very prettily, and excellent runs by Haxtgill minor, Hitchings and Todd made the game very intereating. They found the tackling very sure, however, and the visitors gradually pressed them back. White picked up the ball in the loose, and ran strongly to the full back, : Hartgiil major, who brought him down Rplen- | didly. He got tho ball away to Cook, however, and the latter raced across and scored unopposed: Saunders converted. Christ's College s—o. On reGuming the visitors rushed the ball down the field, and after loose play in front of the School, posts Anderson, ran ■across and scored. Saunders converted, and at half time the score was— Christ's College 10—0. Ritchie returned tho kickvoft' feebly, and play was momentarily in the School 25. Sukuna and Tonks headed ia. strong rush down tKn fi G ] c l into* the visitors' 25. ivhem Hitchings mad© a fine run, but slipped when looking dangerqus. Chrystal came away with a. strong charge into School quarters, but Todd sent the ball back to the centre with a splendid line kick. Cook obtained pcesossion. and made ji pretty run down the touchline. Kicking over the School line, 'he raced for possession, but Hartgill put the ballout of touch in goal. Christ's College continued to attack, and a pretty bit of passing between "Chrystal, White, and Cook ended near the School line. Sukuna. Ormond, and Tonks headed a strong dribble past the centre. The School backs) then got p'os-session and a magnificent n ass ing trim between Hartgill minor, Hitchings, and Todd ended in Hitchings. racing over the visitors' lino at the corner. He took the kick himself, but failed to convert. After the kick out the School forwards dribbled up the field, and Sim passed out neatly, Hitching? and Mason running to the visitors' 25, whore the School were awarded a free kick, and Hitchings kicked a fine goal. Christ's College 10—6. The School continued to force tho game. Ormond, Sukuna, and llobertsbaw dribbled to the visitors' 25, where Hitchings ran round and 'transferred to Todd, who was> collared near tho College line. Cook put in an excellent defensive run and kick, but Riddiford and Hitchings again raced round to within a few yards of the line. Hero Sim passed out and Todd made a fine run. passing to Riddiford, to Ritchie, to Hitchings, who scored at tho • comer. ■ Again the kick failed. Christ's College 10—9. The School continued to attack in splendid .style. Hitchingg and Todd racing round, and Todd being collared. Ritchie broke away from the1 scrum, but failed to paas and was collared. Sim again passed out, and Riddiford, Todd, and Hitchings made another good effort, the latter knocking on. Christ's College now asserted themselves, and their forwa.rds •playing well together, worked the ball down tho touchline to the School 25. White made a strong ran, but Parkinson epoilt the effort by fi elding badly. White again obtained the ball, and after a short run sent Cook away down tho tonehline.
