MARTON BOWLING CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Bowling; Club was held en Tuesday night, the' President (Mr. S. Gibbons) presiding. There was a good attendance. Tho report showed that the catb consisted of 39 members and 11 honoi-ary members. In order to place tlie club in it bettor financial position the members have taken up non-interest bearing debentures to the amount of £354 6s7,,Avith «i further amount of £35 Ho come in? Tho committee started the .vein- with an overdraft of £328 16s. 4d. This, with interest, has been paid off, leaving a credit balance of £21 2s. 4d. The committee have purchased three-quairteirs oi' an aero of land * adjoining the club's ground from Mr. R. 11.I1. Morris. This is leased to the Marton Tennio Club for ten years at a rental of £2 per annum for the first five years land £5 per • annum for the second five years. The area of the land held by tho club is 1£ acres, at a, cost of £150, whidh it is anticipated will be paid off within 12 months. Mr. Bcrfiman has been appointed caretaker, mid devotes tho whole of his time to tho bowling green and tennis courts, tho lattea* club paying a third of h.'s salary. Various improvements have been made, and tho club's thanks arc due to Mr. Fullerton-Smith for the uso of his right-of-way. The report dealt with details of tournaments and various matches1 held during the past .season. Thanks! \retrte tendered to Mr. A. Barnes for a gift of choice rose plants, and other shrubs, to adorn the ground; also to tho wives of members for providing afternoon tea during the srason. The report recommencled the club not to charge an entranca' fee? for new moinr bers, also that the annual subscription bo £2 2s.

The Cliairman reported that he had interviewed Mr.. Morris with reference to completing the purchase of tho land referred to in tflro report. The speaker congratulated the club on ite present financial position.
