The Racing: Conference'on Thursday decided that the executive should take nteps to provide machinery by which suspected caves ef malpiiact'ice may be investigated and dealt with hv a permanent tribunal appointed hy the conference. Sir George Clifford was re-elect-ed president. In dealing with permit--and dates tlie committee recommended that the Otako Maori 'Racing Club be granted October 11th ;ind 12th. the Wellington Racing Club be granted October l7th to 20th, that the applications of the (Daimevirke Jockey Club, Ohincimiri Jockey Club, Tarabalii-Oar-torton Racing Club, iMarton Jockey Club, Pabiatua Racing Club, Avondale Jockey _Club (new applications), and Forbury Park Racing Club be not granted. Tha .Manawatu Pacing Club ior n three* days' meeting w-as agreed to. The -.Ashburton Club's application for ,i two days' was refused. The Stratford 'Racing Club, which applied lor January 1 and 2, was asked to choose another date. Tlie Wangariui Jockey Club, which applied for 'March 7th and Bth. was given -March Bth and 9th. The S^ut'li iCaaiierbu-'y Jockey Club was allr^yrd i:> alto;1 its application from April 17t'i-12;!i to April 10th and 11th. In the .Auckland district the applications of the Av;>iKbiir> a)id Ohinemuri Clubs for extra .p:v.nit<- were refused. In the Hawke's Bay district the Dannovirke Club's application fc," an additional nvas refused. In the Otago district the applicMtion ::f the Forbury Park Racing C':;b L:v two permits was .struck out. Pal.nev.ston and Waikouaiti both applied i\ • n permit. That from Waikouaiti was granted the permit, Palmereton li-rin^ h;id it last year. In the Weringtou district the application of the TViratabi-Cvrterton, Wairarapa, and Paliiatu-i Clubs for additional permits were veluscd. The number of permits granted w;^ 12S; they were allocated to the different districts as follows:—Auckland 18, Canteibury 22, Greymouth 7, Hawe's Bay 20, Otago 26, Tarannki 8, Wanganui 13, Wellington 14. The recommendations were adopted.
