LAND BOARD.

The Land Board concluded its monthJy sitting in Wellington on Friday. IThere were present Messrs. J. Strauch--«n (chairman), A. Reese, T. H. Robin.son, and J. Dawson. The Commissioner submitted a sum:mary of 148 rangers' reports, from which it appeared that 138 selectors had complied with regulations, and ten were defaulters. It was resolved to ,consider the 138 as satisfactory, and -to take the usual action in regard to -the defaulters. Mr. W. S. Patrick applied to surrender his interest in section 19, block 6, Puketoi, and it was resolved not to approve of the request, but to advise him that if he so desired his interest in the iease could be forfeited on non-pay-ment of rental. The following transfers were approved: Bectious'l4 and 15, block 12, Apiti, Messrs. D. Laing, F. W. Laing, -and D. Laing, jun., to G. Clark and P. E. Hyde; sections 29 and 29a, block 4, Puketoi, F. L. Fulcher to R. B. Robertson; section 19, block 3, Potaka, Gupinan to J. H. Carter; section 14, block 4, Tararua, J. and J. Stephens .to E. R. Daldy; section 9, block 14, .Apiti, S. Knight to J. P. I. Romley; -section' 43, block 18, Mangahao, I. McJtfullen to H. F. Petersen; sections 5, .6. 7, 8, block 11, Aohanga, J. Jameson and F. F. Hewitt to H. G. Hunter -(subject to improvements being effect--«d); sections b, 7, 8, 9, 10, block 10, .Aohanga, S. .Banning to James Mc•^Gaughran. Messrs. Smith and McSherry wrote -asking the Board to consider the application to Mr. H. H. Dunn to transfer -sections 16 and 17, block 5, Aohanga, Jbo Mr. James McCardle. This was -agreed to on certain conditions. Mr. J. H. Roberta applied to, sublet acres 1 rood 22 perches of section 44, Uorowhenua East, to Mr. Amos Mudgway for five years at an annual rental of £30. Agreed to. Mr. H. Merson applied to sublet section 250, Raetihi, to Dr. Owen for two .years, at a rental of 15s. per week.— on condition that Dr. Owen -was eligible. An application from Mr. A. 11l ing to -transfer section 13, block 1, TirirauJsawa, to Mrs. A. G. Paterson, was approved. An application from Mr. A. E. R. J*alensky to transfer section 12, block 1, Tiriraukawa. to Mr. J. C. Paterson -was also approved on certain candi--tions

Mr. D. W. O'Callaghan's section 4. lilbck 14,' Maungakaratu, was transferred to Mr. T. Hogan.

. Mrs M. Dickens's section 4, block 1, "Mount Cerberus, was transferi'ed to Mr. ,A. Dickens.

Mr. J. Gunther's application to subdivide section 2, block 1, Mount Cer"berus, and-transfer 35 acres to Mr. A. "Dickens was approved. The Crown Lands Ranger reported ■on the Crown land withheld from sale in Woodville No. 2 .and Christohurch "blocks. It was resolved to retain sec--tion 24, block 4, Puketoi* for bush and water conservation, to dispose of sec--tions 25 and 20 in the same block, and to withhold sections 8, ,9, 22, and 23..
