SALE OF HAWKE'S BAY THOROUGHBREDS.

NAPIER, February 2. The animal sales of thoroughbred yearlings from Messrs. "Douglas Bros. Temahanga stud and Mr. S. M. b<Mlan's Mangatafata stud were offered at Hastings to-day. There was a good attendance of outside buyers, and fair prices were realised for most of the lots> The twelve Mangatarata yearlings brought an average of 64^ guineas, the filly by The Possible—Primula reaching 190 guineas, the top price ot the day. The fourteen 5 Temahanga youngsters were disposed of at an average of 614 guineas, the highest prices being 160 ginuea* for a colt by Gold Reef—Nymph, i\-i«i 15f. guineas for » filly by San Fran—Maude, and consequently half sister to Mahiitonga. Canteen is to do a season at the stud of his owner, Sir W. J. Clark. Castor's son will have a choice selectior of mares to associate with at Rupertswood Mr. J. Buchanan, the new owner of Noctuiform, goes a-racing under the norn-de-course of J. Kincaid.
