A Reign of Coercion and Tyranny EQUAL TO RUSSIA. This is what "No-License" means according to the Liquor Monopoly. But, like most of their assertions, it refutes itself. NINE YEARS AGO Clutha carried " No-License " and they like the Coercion and Tyranny so much they have voted for more of it every time. Their, near neighbours, Mat a lira, Bruce, Port Chalmers, together with Ashburton, were so delighted with the Coercion and Tyranny that they voted for it—and they are SO happy under it they mean to keep it! " No-License " means throwing out of work iooo people in Wanganui according to the Liquor Monopolists. That is to say, they want you to believe that about one adult out of every Six in the town is employed in the Liquor Business. That statement refutes itself. The closing of the BARS does not mean closing the Hotel. Every Hotel.really needed now will be needed then. The only persons not needed will be the one Or two behind the bars; the handful in the breweries; and the one or two who handle the liquor in wholesale establishments. But to close the Bars means to have Over£so,ooo a year for other trades and businesses and this means a BOOM IN BUSINESS! The Liquor Monopolists say that all wholesale houses will lose their licenses and will no doubt remove ' their places of business. But some of them were doing splendid business before they got licenses; and not all of them have licenses to-day; and they are doing well, and don't mean to close up. The trade of this coast is NOT all in liquor. The re- ' tail houses will so increase their business under " No-Li-cense" that the wholesale establishments Will be Busier than Ever! Every assertion of the Liquor Monopolists can be as easily refuted as these. Think the matter out for yourselves! Do not be misled by THE SCARE CRIES of the men who are pocketing1 big profits out of the degradation of your fellows. MEN ARE MORE THAN DOLLARS ! But "No = License" means SAVING the MEN and SAVING the DOLLARS too! STRIKE OUT THE TOP LINE.
