WELLINGTON WOOL SALES

MURRAY, ROBERTS, AND CO. Murray, Roberts and Co. report:— The opening sale of the season was held to-day, when owing to the wet season, only small catalogues were submitted/ the total being about 1-200 bales, our catalogue comprising 300 bales. There was a good attendance of buyers and competition was-very keen. Compared with the opening sale of last year, prices were on the average three farthings per lb. higher for wools in medium and light condition, but wasty and heavy conditioned parcels occasionally did not reach the full extent of the* advance. _ '-■■ .

We give below the prices realised at •to-day's sale as compared-with last November:—Crossbred medium, light and lustrous, IOJd to ll£d to-day, 9|d to 10|d last year; crossbred, coarse to medium, fair condition, 9d to lOd, B^d to 9^d; crossbred, wastry and inferior, B|d to 9£d, 7?d to B|d; half bred, medium to good, 9|d to lid, 9d to 10|d; halfbred, inferior, B|d to 9£d, 8d to B|d; pieces, 6d to 7£d, s£d to6id; locks, 4d to s£d, 3d to 4£d.
