An fine day, crowds of shoppers, and n magnificent assortment of goods combined to make the opening day of Messrs. J. Paul and Co.'s cotton sale an unqualified success. When this firm take a sale in hand there are no half measures, and therefore the public flock to these periodical bargain feasts in hundreds. To-day will doubtless be just as busy, and ladies are therefore j advised to make their purchases early, Iso as to avoid delay and disappointment, for though the firm have made extra provision for handling a big bulk of buyers, their resources are likely to |bo taxed to the utmost this evening. , Tho salo will be continued to-day.
