A Brussels cable announces the death of Phillipne, Count of Flanders, heir to the Belgian throne, aged 68. The Mayor of Christchurch, Mr. C. M. Gray, has received a letter from Mi1. S. Charnock, England, who writes on behalf of Mr. "William Tripp, a shoemaker, resident at 430, Hoe street, Walthamstow, England. The latter is anxious to discover the whereabouts of a sister of his, Mrs. Steven Banbury, who left England for "Wellington about 33 years ago. Mrs. Francis, mistress of the Mount Cook Infant School, who has been granted six months' leave of absence, has been twenty-eight yeans in the servico of tho Board. After teaching at Adelaide, South Australia, for over 28 years, she was appointed as kindergar-* ten expert, in 1878, to the then newlybuilt infant school in Tory street. There havo been 13,419 children on the roll, and 238 pupil teachers have been trained in tho school.
