General. Booth, in an interview, said that an unemployed fund on the basis of charity would do no permane.it good If an appeal next year on the, same basis were repeated an even larger sum would be required. He would not pay the unemployed', in money, lest they should go to the pU'blichouse, but he would pay rent or ws. vor 7s. a week for groceries andifood^ He would do this for the sake of the wives and children.
