THE WALKING COMPETITIOM
The promoters of the late go-as-you-p!eas3 ct>mpetition have arranged to ■hold a walking competition over the •C01W153 on Thursday next, the 21st insfc. The committee will meet in the course c-f a day or two to appoint judges, etc., and arrange prizes, a surplus remaining from tho previous contest. The latter will be published shortly. Entries will be received at Mi- Read's 'Rutland Saloon and by iMr. W. Oliver, "Chronicle" office. 'Entrance fee, Is. Entries close en Tuesday night next, 19th September. The committee are .reminded that there must be a man .to accompany each competitor and to hand their names to the secretary at once.
