921 HAVE BEEN IMPRISONED. United Press Association —Copyright. Received September 5-, 9.57 p.m. CAPETOWN, September 5. Out of 47,000 imported Chinese on the Rand, 921 have been imprisoned, chiefly for breaches of the labour regulations. The Government repudiate responsibility for the numerous desertions, and declare that it is the duty of the mine-owners to prevent them.
