HOSPITAL BOARD ELECTION

The chairman of the Epsom Road Board (Mr. Bloomfield) referred to a statement made by the Hon. HallJoiies to the effect that he was introducing a Bill which would place Hospital Board elections on the same footing as -'Parliamentary' elections: Mr. Bloomfield said h© was satisfied that this was going too far, but he realised that the present method of electing members of Hospital Boards should be placed in the hands (Sr the ratepayers. It would be unfair to local bodies if non-a-atepayers were allowed to spend the money of those who paid the rates ! i was decided to endea v our to get a conference of local bodies to consider the matter. - ■ ■
