Jaures's intended speech, which declares that "the French Socialists are anxious that the workers throughout tlie world should co-operate towards peace, and hence repudiate all ,idi?& ■ of. military revenge against Gerrfc^iiy.,- The bulk of: Frenchmen always regarded the Franco-ißussian alliance as being purely defensive."
