A local ihairdr^ser was proceeded against in the Magistrate's Cotirt to-day by the Inspector of Factories for keeping an employee engaged for a longer time than prodded under the Shop and Shop Assistants Act.' The defence was that 'he had been guided by the Arbitration Court award."1 butt the Magistrate held fet where the award conflicted with tthe statute the award could not hold. A nominal .fine was inflicted.
