The Tennis? Tournament opened in fine 'weaitihegf, with a light breeze. Chief interest centred in the match betwe-en Parker and Peacock and Gaden and Rice. The New Zealand^r® pror^ed too mudh for their opponentis, the game resulting 5—7, 6—3, and 6—2. ,
Cox and Swanston beat Sharp and Rice B—6, 5—7, and B—6. Parker and Peacock 'bdati Douet and Pockley 6 —l, 4 —6, and 6—4. Giaden and Rice beat Laishley iand Go-ire 7 —5 and 6—3. Wright and Sharp, beat Laishley : and Gore 6—3 and 6—l.
In the Singles, Cox played an excellent igaone against Doust, beating him 6—3 'and 6 —;4, after an exciting match ; whilst Swan^bon, after an exciting match, beat Pockley 7 —5, 6 — 2, and 7—5.
