WAITOTARA COUNTY COUNCIL.

: The usual monthly meetdng of the Waitotara County Council was held yesterday. PRESENT.—Mr. W. .Rtchie (in the chaj'r), and Crs. Harper, Walker, Mann, Bi'MLnghurst, Dempsey, and Ross. MINUTES.—The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. ■ MOWHANAU.—The Treasury wrote approving of a loan of £700 to bridge the Mowhanau stream and graved 40 chains of road.

DRAIN.—Mr. James Watt (the Council's soOieitor) reported on the drain on the Brunswick road, opposite Mr. Tawsa'a property, and advised that at the present tima no occupier had any cause of complaint. RIFLE RANGE.—Mr. J. M. Wells waited on the Board with, reference to the formation of the boundary road near the old Rifle Rango. The Chairman moved, Cr. Ross seconded, and it wae resolved that a committee consisting of Crs. 'Harper, Dampsey, and the Chairman be set up to &&9 what amount the owners will; contribute. SAND.—Mr. D. Bayly attended and requested the Board to grant permission to take sand from the hill near Mr. Webster's residence on .St. John's Hiil. On the mot on of the. Chairman, seconded by Cr. Harper, it was resolved to graiiu the request. GATE.—Mr. J. Peroival waited on the Board to request the Council to taka the 'gate off a certain road at Taylorville. » ROAD FORIMATION.—Mr. S. T. Ashton waited on the Council' with *. a request that the Council form about 4 chains of road at Castlecliff. After a snort discussion,- it was resolved 'that the \ Chairman report at nexb meeting as to the cost.

DRAINAGE—'A deputation consisting of iMassrs. Burgess, Guthr.ie and Reid asked that the raadi on the Hair Estate, near Mr. 'Burgess's corner, be drained. It waa pointed out that this road was used to a ■oonisdderable extent. —The Foreman was instructed to attend to the matter.

FOREMAN'S REPORT.—The Fore-^ man's report was read and adopted. "' WILLOWS.—On the motion of the Chairman, seconded 'by Cr. Walker, it was resolved that Messrs. Curnow and Hickmot be giv>an n'Otico to cut and grub out the wi'lllows along the road drains 011 the Brunswick L'ne.

BAD • ROAD.--Miis. Janet Jardino wrote drawing the Council's attention to the s-tate of tho road leading to her property at Manganuii-q-tahu. The road was full of slips, and irf a very neglected state. —Left to the Foreman, to deal with.

TENDERS.—On the anotion of Cr. Harper, .seconded by Cr. Dempsey, it was resolved that tenders be called for claying and nKitaling Fmncis road according to the Foi'eman's liocomimenda1011s. On the motion of Cr. Handley, seconded by Cr. Dempsey, it was .resolved to call for tenders for metalling 30 chains of Rangitatau West road. ACCOUNTS. —Accounts amounting to £389 83. 4d. wore passed for payment. The Court then adjourned.
