CORRESPONDENCE.

THE HARBOUR

To the Editor.

Sir.—l think it'about time that the curtain -shoi£d be- let down on this farce being played by our Harbour Board. It seems disgraceful thaib at present there aro two steamers blocking the r.ver on the flats and the 'Stormbird off the Heads wharf high and dry, whilst consignees uso all sorts of language on as. count of delays in delivery of goods. There-is, however, conifor-b in the fact that rtho dredgo is lying rotting at the end of the town wharf. Only to-day a skipper remarked to me that if the dredge were taken down to the flats and uived there, a channel could be cut through sufficient for present require- : meats, ai less than a week. For the crecS t of tho town, for the credit of the Harbour Board, for heaven's sake do something to open the channel. If this can'ifc 'he done, llet ithe steamers, such as tha HuLa and Stormbird, h9 tendered at tha Heads. Transfer the cargo into punts and gab Nixon's launch to tow them io town on top of high water. —I am, etc., CONSIGNEE.
