M..Oomibe£, the Premier, in a. speech at Auxierre, said that included in his programme was the abrogation of the Concordat and the separation of the Church and the State. He advocated separation by mutual consent for the sake of social peace and religious liberty. He intimated that the imposition of.the income tax and the workmen's pension would take precedence in his programme. He subsequently informed an interviewer that he wai? prepared to allow the churches the temporary use of the buildings, and alsio the budgets, with a full opportunity of gradually establishing an autonomy under common law.
