(Special to "Chronicle.'') Friday night Hast, September 2, was tli© 'time of the annual, and always popu. lar, bad given by members of the Hun. tsrviille Mounted Rifles' in thei Argyle Hall. The -weather, which during the day gave promise of a wet, night, cleared away as the evening hours approached; and ainfflb successful bail resulted. The< floor, in spits of much work being spent on lit, wiaa not as good as the- committee would like to have seen it. but despite this, dancing was kept up with great vigour and enjoyment till it-he- early Qiours of the morniflg. The- bail! opened with a grand march, after which a programme of tweny-four dances, with six extras, followed. The anua'o was supplied by Mr. W. Signal (violin), Mr. Sharp (cornet), Messrs. B. Sutcliff and Crouzier (piano), of Marfcon, while the 'cello was played in good time by Mr. Pitt-man, of ■ Pa/hnerstoii North. The musicians were .congrait-ulated upon the manner in which they had carried out thar duties. Ex'bras were kiindly played by Mr. Oruickshank (2), 'Misses G-r*y, Chubam, James (2), and Mr.. W. The catering was in the hands of Mr. Reid, bak-ar, of Hunterville, and full satiisfacfcion was expressed at the way that that gentleman carried out his duties. . . Altogether there were about a hundred coupfeis present. There was but a, fair sprinkling of members, from outside corps, but among them I noticed Captain Batten, of the Royal Rifle®; Ser. geant-Major Do'bbs^of Feilding; and Ser.geant-Major Fox. The hall was fairly decorated with, flags and military em. ulems. ■ . ■ -.-•■.■
