MELBOURNE, November 16
The Acting Administrator of New Guinea reports the finding of a small tribe living in morasses in the eastern part of ibhe possession, remarkable for the formation of their feet and legs. The latter are very short from the ankle down, while the former are soft and flat-. The tribe-are almost amphibious in their habits.
The Chinese cabinetmakers' strike culminated in a riot in Little Bourke Street between the strikers and Chinese imported from Sydney. Knuckle-dusters were freely used. Two local men were badly injured, and two Sydney Chines© were arrested.

The loal cycling authorities are endeavouring to arrange for Major Taylor's appearance in New Zealand before coming to Australia. The x ederal elections have been definitely fixed for Decembeivl6.
