Minister of Lands [addressed to Mr. Haselden, M.H.R.), advising £343 .granted for the Pphonuiatane Block road has been issued to Council for expenditure. Resolved, that Mr. Mair interview stttlers to ask them to allow their "thirds" to be spent in order to get £ for £ .subsidy. Chief Engineer for Roads, advising alteration of road in Makotuku Survey District, which 'has been closed through Blocks VII. and VIII, Reply to be sent that road is nob in Rangitikei. Read1 Surveyor, Wanganui, advising that the formation of 95 chains on Taheke road will cost £200, and- that £100 i(£ for £) has been placed on the- estimates, for the road. Resolved, on the motion of the chairman., seconded by Cr. Holden, that e«ttlers on Taheke road be asked to make 14 fresh application for expenditure of 1 "thirds" en the road. Road Surveyor, Wanganui, asking to be informed what works the Council intends carrying out in the northern part of tho county. Hie reason for requesting this informafon was in order to avoid commencing any work that the Council may be making* arrarj.erernents .lor, and so that the Department may hand over any engineering da,ta- or pf.ans of the work, which would be of use to the Council. It would ako prevent the Council doing any work for which possibly they had arranged. Resolved, that the "Council- will be glad to fall in with Mr. Reaney s suggestion, and that he be asked to send a list of works contemplated by. the Government. Commissioner of Crown Lands, re expenditure of "thirds" with Government grant on Taheke road, and seeing no reason for altering his opinion as to the intention in giving a subsidy of £ for £. It wa<=t resolved that Mr." Thorns make arraEgemente with the Rata Dairy Company to get. the road to Croft on Creamery metalled at the Council's cost, provided it can bs used* to cart metal from the pit near the Creamery. It was further resolved that the bridge over the Tutaenui river at Bulls, near Mr. Paulin's, be cross-decked, the met?l removed, and other necessary repairs be carried out. The weight to be taken over the bridge mutt neb exceed 5 tone.

Spec'ail orders making special rates for the purpose of providing interest ard other charges were passed, as follows: — Loan of £3,300, Torere-Bukeokalra' roads ; £1,200, Ofcaihapa Improved Farm Settlement roads ; £3,0Q0, Makcihine-Mangaweka mad; £600, Pukenana road,; £60, construction of Raumaewae load,"Mangawekn.
