NEW PLYMOUTH, October 5. The weather continues .strangely mixed, short fine spells alternating with heavy I'ttin and coldi snaps. WELLINGTON, October 4. A violent gaile has been raging here for 48 hours. To-night is miserably cold and wet, and a heavy sea, isi running in Cook's Strait. GTSBORNE, October 5. A heavy southerly gale broke over the bay just a« the Te arrived from the north. At four p.m. the inward! passenger* and mails were landed fiiom the Te Anuu. It was too rough to handle the c;i.r,go, and the launch was -unable to make a, second trip with outward passengers. The Te Anau continued sbuth at 5 p.m.
