A stir wa*i caused1 at the Hon. Carroll's, house shortly before one this morning. A igailor, encumbered with a heavy swag, and having a wild appearance, wandered to the house. . After strolling over the roof and swinging himself downl the side of the house by the pouting he came round to the front door and stated his intention of remaining. He*madei<a great clatter on the housetop. He was arrested and remanded for inquiries. He is a Finn named Alex. Petenseni, and had been drinking.
At Awanui an open verdict was returned at the inquest on the body of a, Maori woman who,, after a domestic quarrel, was fcund drowned, the body being recovered 11 days later. There were no signs of violence, but signs 01 death from asphyxia were aba wanting.
