ST. PAUL'S HALL
PIANOFORTE RECITAL AND
CONCERT.
Mr Walter Impett gave his fifth pianoforte recital and concert last night to a large audience who had come by invitation to hear his pupils. The programme, which included selections from Beethoven, Chopin, Gounod, Moscheles, Hummel, Kctterer and others, was a very intersting one, and its execution reflects credit alike oh the instructor and! his pupils. Misses E. G. Ellis, E. Davis, D. Buckrell, Olive Stace, Lily Harris, Lily Neverman, Annie Jacobs, Cora Wilson, Ruby Henderson, Nellie MLcod. Julia, Keesing, May Ewing, \ Mr Edgar Randal, and Master Gordon Mcßeth were the'executants, and having regard to age and length of tuition, the i performers .merited the applause which greeted each number. There were four vocal solos, which served to give a spice of variety to the concert. One of the most enjoyable items was Beethoven's Andante from Sonata Opus 28, a duet for organ and piano, which we do not remember to have been given in Wanganui before, and which was nicely interpreted by Miss Cora Wilson and Mr W. Impett. Auber's overture to "Zanetta," arranged by Orout as a duo for organ and pianoforte, was also a success, Mr E. Randal (organ) and Mr W. Impett (piano) appearing to understand each other very well. Encores were not accepted, or there would have been several.
