Eitenne, one of the Deputies for Algeria, and leader of the colonial party in the Chamber of Deputies, advocates the securing of the abrogation of the selfdenying Anglo-French ordinance regarding the New Hebrides, and contends that- New Caledonia can never be prosperous or strategically safe until tk' Hebrides are French.
