*Next Thursday tlie Wanganui B team and the Eastown Workshops Club will jplay off for tike championship shield presented by the Wanganui HoCkey Association. Both teams have gone through the Thursday and Saturday competitions without a defeat, and despite the fact that the Eastown Olub are great favourites, it is expected that the Thursday B team will give them a big "go." At a meeting of the Association the other evening a challenge was read from the secretary of the Palmerston Association to a. game to be played &i? Palmerston on Thursday, the 19th of September. The challenge was accepted, and a selection committee formed to select a team, after the final for the local shield. A letter was also read from the Hawera. Club ra a return (match, and the local secretary is now arranging a suitable date to play at Hawera. As Palmerston is a very old hockey centre in comparison with, Wanganui, and has ibad several representative matches already this season, playing Wellingtpn, Dannevirke, and several other clubs, all selected players are requested to go in for as much "hitting" as possible, and get into form, so as to uphold the honour of our town. The game next Thursday will be played on the Racecourse, and the time of starting will be notified on Wednesday. The following will represent the B team : Wilson, goal-keeper; J. Purnell and H. Harvey, full-backs; Carey, Bell, and Harkness, half-backs; Harvey, Perrett, Coe, Willis, Billey, Cooke, and Gillies The above team are requested to meet at 8 o'clock this evening at Goss's to go for am. •
