MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS.

To the Editor

Sir, —For rank impudence commend me to "Constant Reader," whose dictatorial effusion appeared in your columns of last Thursday. There is a certain class of people in every community who are a source of constant bother to their neighbours, in that no public function or work can be undertaken or carried on without their vulgar interference. Of this class of irritiiting humbug "Constant Reader" is a very fair sample, and the only apparent wa| to deal with him and others of like calibre is to give them forcible advice— with your boot, if necessary — to "mind their own business." In his bombastic letter of Thursday your correspondent shows a style of writing in striking similitude to effusions I have seen on former occasions over the signature of one who likes to hear himself termed "our esteemed fellow citizen Mr "; if the said "esteemed" person had nothing to do with that epistle I've made the greatest mistake of my life. It is true that your report of Mr Dewsbury's lecture was rather short, and also true that your football reporter put in his full time in writing his account; but who is "running the show—you or your pompous critic ? I notice that he mentions the "N.Z. Times" as being at fault in the same way as the "Chronicle." Let me, sir, inform "Constant Reader" that if he were to go to the "N.Z. Times" or any other journal (excepting the over-merciful "Chronicle") with his last eifusion, he would he politely asked to leave the office; if this would not suffice, he would be impolitely forced to do so. However, sir, I leave "Constant Reader" in your hands, and hope that his next epistle will meet its true level—the waste-paper basket.—l am, etc., NOT A FOOTBALLER.
