WAIRARAPA v. RANGITIKEI.

The Wairarapa representatives^" who" are' on tour, played Rangitikei on the Marton Park yesterday afternoon. ITJie game resulted in a somewhat ■easy win for Wairarapa by 24 points to nil. Wairarapa outclassed Rangitikei in every department of ths game. The following were fhe' teams: —

.Wuirafapa won tKe toss, and decided to play with the wind, •which was.-blowing right across the jfieldi Giesenr- lucked off for Bangitikei, and some give and take play followed an exchange of Kicks in midr field, ending in* the ball being sent out to touch. A free kick, was given to Waira-' rapa, and Diamond (W.) getting the ball on the'return, made a dash for the line, but was- grassed by Haselden.. Several scrums took place in the Rangitikei 25's. where the home team got a free kick and sent the'ball into centre field. A passing rush by the Wairarapa backs enabled Diamond to-": Straw first blood for Wairarapa. The kick at goal was taken by; E. McKenzie, who £ placed a beautiful goal. Wairarapa 5, Rangitikei 0. Shortly after the kick oiijr-Brunton, (W.) secured another try, which Rodgere (W.) converted. vVairarapa 10, Rangitikei 0.~ This reverse livened Hangitikei up, and their forwards playing well together, carried the ball to the Wairarapa 25's. A-free kick was awarded to Rangitikei, and Haselden had a shot at goal, but kicked too low. Haselden was hurt soon after andnad to retire, Schmidt took his place. Wairarapa- worked the ball to the Rangitikei gaoal-line, and Maguire ; . scored. No goal resulted. Wairarapa 13, Rangitikei 0. After the kicK out Schmidt secured .the ball, -and making a good ran, kicked w-ell into touch-. Soon after half-time was called.

On resuming, Rangitikei kicked the ball well up the field, and Wairarapa returned to touch. On the throw out Morgan secured the ball, and ipassed to Schmidt, who ran out. From the scram Harper secured the ball, passed to Morgan, who. kicked high up, secured it again, and passed to Fraser, who carried the ball to the Wairarapa goal line. Wairarapa worked the ball back again to the centre. Another good passing rush by Rangitikei was spoilt by Schmidt mulling. Shortly after .Diamond (W.) secured the ball, and carried it ■ right through, but lost it, and Rangitikei were forced. A good passing rash by Wairarapa saw MeMaster (W.) score. E. McKenzie kicked a splendid goal. Wairarapa 18, Rangitikei nil. An interchange of free kicks on both sides, and the ball went out. - Maguire secured the ball from a pass, and transferred it to Diamond, who sent the ball out of touch. Wairarapa was given a free kick in Rangitikei's 25, and the ball was placed for E. McKenzie, who, notwithstanding the difficult asiglet, Idcked a beautiftd goal. Wairarapa 21. Rangitikei nil. Another good passing rush by Wairarapa saw McKenzie (W.) score. No goal resulted. Time was called soon after, and victory rested with Wairarapa by 24 points to nil. Diamond, E. McKenzie, Maguire, and Brunton were thie pick of the backs, and Armstrong (2), J, McKenzie, Udy, and Workman were I»he best in the forward rank of the Wairarapa's. For Rangitikei, Pine, Morgan, Baker, and Harper for the backs, and Fraser, McNae, naselden, McKenzie, and Giesen in bhe forward rank.

The features of the game was the splendid place kicking of E. McKenzie (W,)» and the passing rushes of the visitors. Although Rangitikei were out-classed, they made a good stand. Mr D. Malone. of Wangamu, -had charge of the whistle, and his decisions gave entire satisfaction to both teams.
