WELLINGTON, August 14.
•Tlip. Maryborough representatives, who ura at present on' tour, played a scratch Wellington team- to-day, and were defeated by 18 points to 6. The visitors knew very little about the game, and were overran in every department during the greater part of the contest. The home team scored 14 points during the first spell, Marlborough's score at that stage being nil. Playing with a strong wind behind them in the second spell, the visitors made some good rushes, from which Towman scored two tries, but failed to convert either. For Wellington McLachlan kicked, a goal from a mark, bringing the score to 18. The visitors played pluckily under disheartening circumstances, and defended the line very well during the latter part of I the game.
