OPERA HOUSE.
MAORI GATHERING AT BOTORUA.
LIVING PIQTURES
To-night in the Opera House Messrs. Cooper and Macdermott will exhibit their newly-arrived film of the scene at ROUO--rua, where the Wanganui niitives were assembled. The scene embraces the haka and poi dance, the Duke in the Maori mat, and the Premier—events of great historic value. Of .all the many scenes in connection with the visit of Royalty, this native gathering is tihe most unique and interesting, and has secured the greatest notice from voice and pen of the Royal party. An officer of the escort writes: —
"Nothing less than the Maori gathering could have enhanced the weird fascination of Nature at Roilorua,. It was a display unique in the memory of man, and not to bo repeated in the future." It is well we have the kinemutograph to be able to faithfully to reproduce the scene, and as Messrs. Cooper and Macdermott have the reputation of exhibitiing their views with hrilliiuicy and in a manner to be appreciated, wo may anticipate a large audience. The first portion of the programme will deal with our late Queen and present King and Queen, and the second part will embrace the Royal visit, our boys in South Africa, and a large collection of miscellaneous views.
