SOLO COMPETITIONS.

I Rain set in shortly after 5 p.m., but despite this a crpwded house assembled to hear tflie continuation of the solo competitions in the evening. Flatt (New Plymouth) .t 76 The judge before announcing the results said that the playing of the three sections iust finished was of a very high standard. T'l many cases very careful consideration was necessary' before coming to' a. decision. The baritone section in...particular, had... . given him the greatest satisfaction ; in fact h was the finest he had ever listened j.ti. He then offered some very sound advice to the players, especially with regard to phrasing. ■ - He concluded by saying that; if the E flat horns, to be heard this morn? ing were of as high a standard he would ; iidvise the citizens not to miss the oppor- ' tunity of hearing such a musical treati and hoped to find a packed house as the result.
