LAWN TENNIS,
The Wanganui Tennis Club opened the season on Saturday under most favourable circumstances. There was a good attendance of players and visitors, and.everything points to a successful season. A Yankee Singles Match for men has been arranged on similar lines to that played last year. The handicaps ure as follows :— G. Pownali rec. 154, H. B. Watson scr, J. Harold rec. scr, J. Watson rec. 415, L. Peake rec. scr, G. R. Stack rec. |15, H. Taylor rec. §15, Meldrum rec. 415, A. Mountfort 154, Naylor rec. 15, L. Stedman scr, W. Thomson 415, W. H. Barnicoat £15, J. C. Greenwood 30, H. L. Marsack 15, J. M. Marshall (owe 40), F. Hatherly Jls, O. S. Jones 30, Atkinson 415, N. Levien scr, Wood 415.
A similar match for ladies will be shortly arranged. As a return match will probably be played with Waverley next month, players should lose no time in "getting into practice.
